iOS 12 SUCKS! An Honest iOS 12 Review from Two iPhone Beta Testers

Hi guys, David David here from payetteforward.com, and in this video, we’re going to review iOS 12, and frankly, we believe that it kind of sucks. It sucks. And why? The only things that it’s adding are features
that Apple has appropriated from other apps that were successful. So they say that the sincerest form of flattery
is imitation. But Apple we gotta introduce some new features. They’re usually the industry leader and seems like they’re kind of following in this update. Industry
follower now. So let’s first talk about that Measure app. We actually just did a review of the Measure app,
you can check that in a card above and the description section below, right, but it’s pretty inaccurate
like measurements need to be precise. It’s been consistently off by one or two inches any time we try to measure anything. So that’s really no good. Another thing that we kind of don’t like about
it is that it is fixing problems, that just should be fixed. I mean, it’s not an update saying okay. We’re launching the camera faster. We’re launching apps faster, but is that really
something to brag about with an update of this proportion. Right. And one thing like camera opening faster, you’re
not gonna notice that. It’s 70% faster, but 70% of half a second is not that much. So another new feature in the
Settings that you’ll see is Screen Time. And I just want to open it up for you real quick. Now it’s actually really well organized my
opinion, but it’s kind of confusing. First of all Restrictions are gone. It used to
be Settings ->General ->Restrictions. Yeah, that’s kind of like the parental controls.
Now it’s here in the Screen Time under “Content & Privacy Restrictions.” So if you use Restrictions have fun learning
a whole new system. Yep, and furthermore, if you didn’t already use Guided Access, the
Screen Time information probably isn’t going to be very valuable to you and I don’t know
anyone who uses Guided Access. Nor do I except for some very tech-savvy parents. So they’ve also introduced the new battery
section, but it really isn’t that helpful. Again, they’re showing you what the problem is without
giving you any sort of hints as to how to solve it, and fortunately we do have a really
cool iPhone battery video that I guarantee will help you to save iPhone battery life.
We’ll link to that in a card above and in the comments section down below actually not in
the comments, but the description section. Yeah now to be fair of this new battery section
gives you a lot of new information, which is it’s fun to look at but it really doesn’t
help you address battery issues. And furthermore, how are you going to identify if there’s a
problem with your battery by looking at this? You see right from 9:00 to
12:00 p.m. Their your usage is going way up. Well, that’s the cool part about it you can
tap in here and it will show you okay like during this problem period I was using a whole
bunch of safari. So theoretically if there was an app that
wasn’t Safari, I mean Safari is going to use what Safari uses, but and that’s not 100% true
because they can go in and clear the cache and help but theoretically this could help
to identify a problem app. But yeah, this is the type of information
that was going to show up anyway. It was already showing you which apps
were using the most amount of battery within the last 24 hours and the last 7 days so it’s really
not any new information. Yeah, and one thing that really still bothers a
lot of people about Apple is there’s no dark mode. I want dark mode. Sometimes I go dark. They’re Smart Invert colors, which is kind of like
dark mode, but most apps don’t support that. You know, it’s another great new feature contactless student ID cards. Thank you Apple. Security code autofill. Yeah. Yeah. They also introduced with FaceTime — you can now FaceTime with 32 people. I don’t even know 32 people! I just I don’t see why that’s something…who’s gonna try to FaceTime with 32 people at once? The problem is the most people can’t even figure out a
FaceTime with one person. Right. So let alone 32 and they kind of ripped off
of 32 people from Google. Yep, and they also say okay we’re going to
focus on whoever’s speaking at a current time also ripped off from Google. Again so then if we’re going into the Messages app, speaking of ripping off apps, let me go into the Messages app and I’m gonna try to
take a photo and it has some cool annotations. So if I hit this little star there we are
David if and what we can do is say like I can add some text to this. That’s great. I’m not really seeing how this is all that
useful. It’s kind of like a clunkier version of Snapchat. Yep, and if you wanted to do it in the Camera
app, which could be you know, helpful can’t do it. Only in the Messages app. I’m sure you can go edit the picture after
the fact but you know, that’s a whole extra step. And if you can go back to the Messages app real quick, They did actually change something in here
about sending photos directly from iMessage. You used to be able to tap that camera and a whole
bunch of photos and show you can just tap the one you want to send but now you can tap
on the photo app icon down here. So there it is. It’s a smaller version of what you had before
I can send David picture of our sponsorship. Now another thing to keep in mind here. If you go back to the Messages one more
time, if this app button isn’t tapped, it’s gone. It’s gone. Where’d it go? Where’d you go? I tap it again gotta tap it again. Anyway, David’s point is that there’s a few
extra steps where something that you do all the time which is send photos that used to
be really easy to do now requires, you know more work. It just got more complicated for sure. Siri also has this shortcut feature, I can’t figure out how to use that. Additionally, it has this, “Hey Siri, what’s my password for Google.com?” Your HomePod just went off, bringing me to another point. It’s that Siri is still really mediocre. It still falls way behind Alexa and Google Assistant. A couple things we do like about iOS 12 is that the iPhone X app switcher…you no longer need to press and hold the app preview and then
swipe it off. It’s actually pretty cool. We just swipe it off the top of the screen. Yeah. So again, this is a fix that it should have
been introduced right with iOS 11 and if you have an iPhone 8 or earlier, This doesn’t affect you at all. Right, which so we’re making the iPhone
faster, which is something that should have just been done. Anyway, it sounds like they’re cleaning up
code making it more efficient. Thanks. Not really a new feature though. Right one big thing people really happy about
is grouped Notifications. Now, if you receive like six messages from
one person in a row, they used to show up individually on your Home screen now, it’s
just one right which is where are you? Where are you David? Are you coming for dinner, David? I miss you. Where are you? Sorry Mom. Now, you’re just one notification. That’s pretty cool. Another thing we like is that Do Not Disturb got
a little bit better. There’s no do not disturb during bedtime. So if you go to sleep Notifications are going
to wake you up but regular Do Not Disturb, you can just schedule anyway. There’s also
do not disturb… it can now track a location. So you go to
the library, if it sees you’re in that location, Do Not Disturb turns on. It’s gonna absolutely destroy your battery life for the record. Don’t use that. And instead
of you know, just turning on Do Not Disturb when you walk to the library, you can have it automatically set up. Right,
and your iPhone will run on battery. Anyways, I just said so yeah, you do not get
Disturbed when you got no battery life left, right. So that’s iOS 12 in a nutshell. Yes. And I mean, what about this update is actually
revolutionary or what…nothing changes. My favorite feature, to be honest, is the
iPhone app switcher. Yeah. Well, that’s just it was a pain in the butt
to do that. Right. And we used to explain that every single time
in a YouTube video now, we just got to fix all those YouTube videos. So now all you have to do is swipe them off the top of the screen. Yeah, pretty cool. So that is iOS 12. That’s our iOS 12 review. We’re not super excited about. Kind of sucks. It’s like
iOS 11 plus right? Who cares? I don’t care about any of this stuff. iOS 11s. Yeah. Thank you guys for watching this video. Leave
a comment down below. We want to hear your thoughts on iOS 12. Do
you disagree with us? Do you like iOS 12? Did we miss any features that we should be paying more attention
to? Please leave a comment down below. Or what features would you like to see in iOS 12 that would actually
make it exciting for you. Like dark mode. Dark mode. Give this video a thumbs up

  1. I'm looking forward to facetime with more than one person at a time. A great idea for families that are distances apart.
Not sure what's the big deal about a dark mode. Could you explain it?
Thanks a bunch. Enjoying your tips videos.

  2. I get the feeling your wrong about this being a bad update
Heres a list of some features
    Siri shortcuts
    Group Facetime
    iCloud Messages
    Camera Effects in iMessage
    Group Notifications
    new DND
Faster Opening Apps (Which you will notice on older devices)
Native Support for using airpods as a device to aid hearing
    Screen time is usefull
    New security improvments

I get the feeling your wrong about this being a bad update

  3. The only android has over iOS is multi screen. A gimmick I would never use.

Phones aren’t big enough for dual screens.

  4. Guess what , they are gonna make a video about iOS 12 unstable …. prior to 1st update … as Tech guys , you will its gonna be buggy as not All App Developers are ready …. and it may need 4-5 updates to stabilise it .

  5. Why would tech savvy parents need guided access? Wouldn’t they mean non-tech savvy? I don’t use guided access either but isn’t that what it’s for? It’s for people that don’t get how to use their iPhones?

  6. I will say this for apple.
Every year they come out with a full update. That works for there full iOS line up.
Having dedicated software for there Hardware.
No other Devices on the market give you this!
Plus all updates are Free and Make using their devices easier.

So when it comes to Apple, They Try to make sure using any Apple product is Enjoyable and seamless.
this is not 100% perfect but At least they are Trying.

Name another company who does this for you.

  7. People complain when iOS is buggy and unstable, but when apple dedicates an entire OS (iOS 12) To fixing that issue, people complain about that too 🤔🤷‍♂️

  8. I need help with my iPhone 7 microphone, it doesn’t work . I tried every tips in YouTube but it doesn’t work still, any recommendation could be a big help, thanks a lot

  9. I need help with my iPhone 7 microphone, it doesn’t work . I tried every tips in YouTube but it doesn’t work still, any recommendation could be a big help, thanks a lot

  10. What I've seen on the update list of iOS 12 all sounds like childish sh**: Emojis, animojis, video animations on video calls… I honestly don't care about that. I use my phone mainly to listen to music, navigate on the internet and make phone calls, I don't care about emojis and such, and I guess the Apple Music app won't be updated and will keep its horrible design, the worst they have done in a lot of time and with several improvement needs, but this what apple is today.

  11. I measured my 50inch tv and it correctly displayed 49.5 on iphone se. So don't know what the hell are you guys talking about.

  12. Constructive editing criticism: Why the variable framerate between cameras? It's quite jarring and you'd be better off at either cutting the view entirely, or adjusting all footage to a lower framerate to even it out.

  13. To be honest and respectable, you guys are jumping the gun. Wasn't the ios 12 going to be the more stable and improve version of ios 11, which had many problems? To say it sucks I think that is unfair. Rushing to judgment? I think so.

  14. I’d regard iOS12 as 11 fully optimized and way more stable. Yes Apple should fix those bugs and issues in iOS11, but at least it’s good to see they’re finally doing something right. On 12 they added some more features that seems “useless” or “unnecessary “ but actually it’s quite nice and useful to have them..
I believe iOS13 will definitely add some more new major features..

  15. I like iOS 12 they have added a lot of small little new features, Siri Shortcuts is cool and I hope it will work in the background and it is so much faster compared to iOS 11. the iPhone 5s is a lot faster

  16. Why does nobody talk about the changes to Facetime? They hid the fucking camera switcher when you're in Facetime and it drives me absolutely crazy. I also hate the iMessage change.

  17. Why do you two own iPhones? You two should be in a Samsung video, Apple did say they would not be introducing any new functions in ios 12 yet, just making sure it works correctly, what part of that statement did you guys not understand.

  18. You talk Apple, but don’t follow their guidance. They told everybody this version would be enhancement not advancement. They have done this before, and it’s a good thing. You just prove that if it’s not new, you don’t get it. Sponsored by Android?

  19. Terrible review. Don’t take anyone seriously that reviews BETA so early on. That is why it’s called BETA. I have just installed iOS12 GM and it’s great. Smooth. Fast. Everything Apple said it would be. After a shaky ios11, wasn’t looking for major update. If it sucks that much, switch to Android. You and Apple will both be happier. Terrible, terrible review. So so negative. It’s BETA guys. Get a life.

  20. You professionals are finally discussing MY reaction to every iOS update since ?6 (when Apple maps took over). Most especially iOS 11. Why would I want to update when 5 or more of the apps I use almost every day will suddenly no longer work? And the app developers aren't updating them. There's no longer "an app for that".

Cool little apps that were actually useful (like Chronotap, full-screen-tap-anywhere-for-a-split chronograph) and my favorite, 'Craigslist Daily' are no longer supported (along with HUNDREDS of other apps) by iOS 11. People upgrade and then are surprised because "___" no longer works. And you can't go back. Stupid Apple.

I even held off updating the Notes app from 9.3 because I don't need all those features and they just make Notes more complex. Finally did it and I'm sorry. I don't need to draw on my screen. Now every time I go to edit text in a note there's an extra step of actually getting the keyboard to come up first.

And the list goes on and on…

10.3.3 until I no longer have a choice.

I hate Apple and Microsoft for useless Windows 10 updates but what choice do we have?

  21. I agree with lots of point in this vid. I understand apple is apple and does not behave like a normal smartphone company but is there a reddit thread where they list popular iphone features for next updates. If not do you think apple will ever listen to their consumers?

  22. Google maps apple CarPlay support alone makes iOS 12 worth it for me… let alone the notifications update and all the other quality of life improvements…

  23. iOS 12 does suck… I downloaded it a few hours ago… it looks virtually the same, has nothing that is interesting at all… this year is the worst year for Apple in past 15 years

  24. You guys are idiots. Apple said way before even the betas were released that iOS 12 is going to focuse mainly on stability improvements, bug fixes, speed, and to top it all off, they fixed a lot of problems that previous updates didn’t fix. Here you are saying the update sucks because they didn’t add a lot of features, but that’s because, like I said, they were focusing on stability. This video is pointless.

  25. Well updated to ios12 today and frankly nothing changed for me, IPhone 8.
Totally agree with what you say. The new features are just things that you’d look at and then never look at again.
DND mode is like what you guys said. Just go to silent and that all you need to do. Tracking a location is like you said just tracking a location for the sake of proving what software can do.

Still can’t select all emails and delete all
Still can’t live edit pics like you said.
Short cut is still rubbish, coz I cant ask Siri to launch amazon music app and play a song…has to be in Apple Music.

All the hype for basically crunching notifications into 1 notification.

Thank guys. You should sit in on conferences with apple development team.

  26. Bullshit clickbait video title. I haven’t learned anything about iOS 12 that may inform my decision to upgrade or not. Thanks for the waste of time

  27. This is a very negative video and it sounded too bitter for a reason. I used to watch this duo coz they talk sense and help. Its a waste of time to watch. Unsubscribing now…

  28. Your video has no useful content.
IOS 12 works better on my phone but you guys say it sucks. You are the experts.
You would bitch if you were hung with a new rope – you are really stretching to conclude two dozen times that it sucks.
    THUMBS DOWN, dislike channel, UNSUBSCRIBE.

  29. I’m just happy to have the cleaned up code and few of the new features. I have always wanted the ability to remove the "Bubbles" when using imessage. Apple focuses on privacy, however this has always been something they always overlook for some reason. I agree with you guys on a Dark Mode setting….. Way over due!! Great videos!

  30. FaceTime in general sucks now the most. You have to go to a whole other screen when you want to flip the camera. So whatever my daughter is doing that was cute, her dad misses while we are on the phone when he’s out of town. And the emojis you can do, kinda neat, if you could stop them without having to hang up and call back.

  31. What the hell is apple doing? Are they trying to be the dullest possible tech company? They killed the awesome Aperture photo software & then keep rolling out basic bitch stuff like iPhoto, photo's & iMovie. Its getting embarrassing.

  32. What i don't care for is the fact when Bluetooth has no icon when it's on.Only shows up with wireless earphones. So you have to search to turn off..

  33. THIS 😄
I signed into an account I RARELY use, just to comment!
Guys, I ❤️ The music 🎶 to your video! It’s catchy similar to the Snapple Mango commercial 🤣
Good job 👏 on the level of sarcasm you’re using! How was your Chipotle’s dinner? 😆
Keep up the good work 💯

  34. I keep my phone on Do Not Disturb 100% of the time and have forever. iOS 12 gives me a constant message to turn it off. I’m annoyed 😒

  35. I really hate the update. The colors are weird – icons now grayed out. Messages dark green. But the apps above the text screen REALLY blows. Keep tapping yelp or open table instead of a letter. And inserting photos is whacked.

  36. I'm new to Apple. I just got an 8 plus coming from a note 5 and I loved that phone. As for the 8 plus I both love it and hate it. I've heard rumors that with iOS updates they start to slow your phone down as well as diminish battery life. Are these true?

  37. Since, and only since updating, it seems I’ve less control of my iPhone X under iOS 12 than 11. It’s a mess. Night before? Fine.
Messaging: it opens to a text message chat I had weeks ago with one person – and then freezes there; I can’t get out of that chat; back to my list of contacts so I can’t USE messaging as it now opens to that specific chat and does nothing else. I can only text message if someone texts me first, as long as I stay in the smaller, overlying another app text style. If I click to use the full Message app I’m back to that chat it’s stuck on. So I’ve been in a chat where someone texts me, I’m busy and click on the app as is Pavlovian at this point, when poof I’m locked out ever since updating. Idiocy.
More: my screen goes black. OFTEN. Randomly. Flashes black then back over and over randomly or just once. It’s galling, annoying, untenable.
    Idiocy.
It shuts down. Hard. Just now I received an alert. Went to expand it when I stopped myself: “DON’T CLICK OUTSIDE! You’ll never get back in to finish this complaint!”…
    Idiocy.
Yesterday I called someone and the phone call was terminated at my end while the person I was talking with was mid sentence. Wasn’t moving. At home. Just poof gone. He called back; asked why I’d hung up on him. I wasn’t touching the phone. So far that’s just one instance so it may be a separate incident.
Simple shit such as copy/paste or comments to a forum? NOPE. You cannot select specific text. You can’t. When attempted you instead have one option: grab the entirety of whichever web PAGE you’re reading. All of it – but although it highlights in blue as if selected (the whole damn page) there’s no buttons to copy it. LOL Ugh?!
At a favorite website. Ready to sound off/interact. Cursor in text box. Click. Ready to type. But no keyboard will come up; you click but no response. You hold it and the entire webpage lights up blue as if you’re not actually in that typing area to comment. You’ve selected the whole page – but no matter how many times you click inside the typing box area it will not acknowledge you’re there.
On every site I comment at.
And just now, once I’d clicked about 15x inside this text box right here; held it down and kept repeating that action until suddenly I gained entry to type, and the keyboard finally appeared, I finished this diatribe and clicked “Done”; noticed typos and tried for two MINUTES to regain a keyboard to fix them. I’ll have to remember not to do certain things AS YOU WOULD NORMALLY DO. Good God. Idiocies as blessings seems the norm.
There’s more, but this is the LAST THOUSAND DOLLAR APPLE PHONE I buy. I caved in and bought it against my instincts. The phone itself? Heavy. Slippery and not near as user friendly as my last. (6+).
I’ve been APPL my whole life but with good options otherwise today, since Apple has gone so steeply downhill, I’m out. But for now, I’m stuck using a flashing, rebooting, rather useless for my uses iPhone X under iOS 12.

  38. Hi guys🖖 Since installing ios12 on my iPad Air the Instagram app is now in letterbox. So big black bands either side shrinking the image area! It’s pretty annoying!! 🙁 Is this on your radar? Any thoughts??
    Cheers Paul🙂🖖

  39. Ios12 is the worst yet I hate everything about it I am seriously getting off the iPhone train got iPhone 4 I currently have the 6 and it will be my last, they lost me I'm only 1 but I'm sure there are plenty of others like me. After the ios12 install my cell only reaches 2 out of 4 bars for reception never had this problem before. They even got caught purposely slowing down older iPhones so people would buy the new ones wtf people boycott apple !!!!

  40. i don't understand the comment about the app switcher and holding something down? I have been able to double tap my home button and go through swiping up to close apps for a while now… what you demonstrated isn't new? I have the iphone SE though, so maybe its new for a certain model?

  41. I love your video's but do you have a video on why my FaceTime and Imessages have stopped working and keep telling me waiting for activation for over a week now but is working on my iPad. It's an iPhone 6

  42. It sucks. My new iphone 8 is SOO glitchy. My 6s had it's issues as it started getting older, but even at it's worst, it was much better than my new 8. Native apps like messages glitch all the time where stuff won't display properly, etc. Worst phone/iOS

  43. Thank you for this — APPLE does NOT want to hear any feedback on their Communities. I don't know if they are IGNORING their Beta Testers, but I don't believe for one second that any real techies like anything about ios12.

  44. ios 12 on my iphone 6 sucks notifications sounds on all my apps were not working even though all the settings were on volume is working though just the notifications sounds not working please help

  45. I’m the processes of looking for alternatives like most other people I know… I used to be so excited to get a new apple products.. looking forward to the next company to take the lead.

  46. On only my 3rd iPhone since 2011…1st: 4S, 2nd: 5S, current: 7. Still working my way through iOS 12 and I’m anxious to learn every new discovery, w/ the help of ‘Tips’ of course! Planning on upgrading my iPhone in 2019, so any recommendations will be super helpful! [FYI: not seeking the latest and greatest as I can’t afford that right now.] Will be upgrading my phone and upgrading my mom or dad’s phone to the 7…still in great shape after 2 years!!! I take care of my tech😃👍🏻 By the way, whoever ends up inheriting my 7 will be directed to your ‘iPhone basics’ playlist right out of the gate! Great video and channel…see you in social!

  47. When are they fixing my cellular data problem? It’s not in 12.1.3. So when? Apple is really dropping the ball and just looking at it instead of picking it up.

  48. Ok I was looking for an iOS area to criticize because I am sick of iOS.

Keys are always far or no where to be found. Perhaps you need to be apple engineer to be successful in using their devices. Today I am trying to see the size of a photo that I took. You simply can’t know the size. No photo info. Is this information encrypted too?

If you try to send photos to wattsapp, they sometimes don’t get sent. So many issues.

I am sure there is a senior staff in apple lab that is stuck with old ideas and doesn’t want to change. He must be the idiot of all times. Going back to android. Sick of this shit.

  49. imessage has not been working for me.. for the past 10 yrs, ive never had an issue with that on an iphone. now the 1200 dollar iphone x with ios 12, doesnt even let me txt nor does it give me txt notifications appropriately.

  50. REQUEST: Can you guys do a video about iPhone dying pixel? I have a bright spot on the screen only when summer rolls around. It seems to disappear in colder temps. It’s more noticeable on white screens. Do pixel correction videos work? What works?
