Lil Pump’s “Butterfly Doors” Explained | Song Stories

TIA: Just a few days into the new year, Lil
Pump dropped an ode to high end cars with “Butterfly Doors.” TIA: The track was produced by CBMIX, who’s
also worked with Pump on songs like “ESKEETIT” and “I Love It” with Kanye West. TIA: “Butterfly Doors” was released ahead
of his upcoming sophomore studio album, ‘Harverd Dropout,’ but before the song even dropped, Pump was already catching heat for some controversial lyrics. TIA: He previewed the track on Twitter, and
many fans weren’t happy to hear both a derogatory line and ad lib as he references Chinese basketball Hall of Famer Yao Ming. TIA: Pump issued an apology, and in the official
version of the song the line was censored and the ad lib was removed. LIL PUMP: I came in to tell you from my part
that I’m sorry and I apologize for posting that. It was not my intentions to hurt nobody or
do none of that. Deadass. TIA: Back on the track, Lil Pump is just stuntin’
as usual about how much money he makes and his recent legal trouble. TIA: In October 2018, Pump had to cancel his
Harverd Dropout Tour, possibly due to recent legal troubles, like his arrest in August
for driving without a license and in February for firing a gun in his home. PUMP: I’m on probation in LA, I just violated
my PO so I gotta go in and do a couple months. TIA: Here, Pump shouts out Gucci Mane and
his famous transition from the old Gucci, to the new Gucci following his release from
prison in 2016. TIA: But Lil Pump and Gucci Mane share more
than just a love for the brand, the pair recently announced they would be performing together,
along with Smokepurrp at the 2019 Coachella festival under the moniker “Gucci Gang.” TIA: Following its release on January 4th,
“Butterfly Doors” shot up the Genius Song Chart, and currently sits at #3. TIA: If you wanna learn more about “Butterfly
Doors,” check out the song page on Genius.com. TIA: I’m Tia with Genius News bringing you
the meaning and the knowledge behind the music.
